BMW M50 Iron Block 2.8L Stroker Engine Project + Getrag 250 5-Speed – Professionally Machined

Selling my professionally machined BMW M50 OBD-I engine project and matching Getrag 250 five-speed manual transmission. I originally built this for one of my BMW projects but have accumulated too many projects and have decided to let this one go.

This is not simply a collection of used BMW parts. It is a professionally machined and assembled M50 2.8L stroker built around the desirable iron M50 block using OEM BMW components. Nearly all of the expensive machine work has already been completed.

The machining and assembly were performed by Hopsing's Machine Shop on University Avenue in San Diego, a machine shop that earned an excellent reputation within the Southern California BMW community for precision engine work but is now closed.

The aluminum components—including the cylinder head, timing covers, oil pan, and related castings—were professionally hot tanked and cleaned.

The engine block was professionally cleaned, machined, refinished, and assembled using new bearings, rings, and the balanced rotating assembly.

Everything shown in the photographs is included. The package is substantially complete and represents an excellent foundation for someone looking to complete a high-quality M50 stroker build.

TRANSMISSION:

Also included is a BMW Getrag 250 five-speed manual transmission, complete and in good condition.

CONDITION:

The engine has never been completed after machining and has remained carefully stored indoors.

The cylinders still display an excellent fresh hone pattern. The block has been refinished and fitted with new core plugs, while the cylinder head and aluminum castings are exceptionally clean from professional hot-tanking.

This iron-block M50 stroker would make an outstanding foundation for an E30, E34, or E36 build, whether naturally aspirated or turbocharged.
