Year ID

OK you wizards. Can anyone identify what year either one of these vintage 5 Series are?

Orange is a '77 or later - gas filler is on the fender, not in rear next to plate as the 75/76 had. I had a '77.

OK, thanks. Anyone know what year X plates were issues in the UK?

525 with a cloth top. Yuck. At least it came with the spare cat storage option.

I believe the spare cat option was used to keep the tires clean and the engine warm! I see they sprung for the expensive calico one which goes nicely with the vinyl top.
