Hi all, .. longtime E24 lover, recent E24 owner and new CCA member. Greetings. So, .. in 1986, .. the first year of my Learner's Permit - looking at the brand new 1986 BMW 635 CSi rendered me star-struck .. and worse, .. I had a boss who bought one - black on black and I had to see it every day when I went to my summer job. Well, .. I never forgot about it and I promised that one day when I was in the position to own a 'toy car' I was going to hunt one down and do whatever necessary to make sure the Angels would Sing every time I opened the garage door! ... well, .. I now have my E24 and that chorus of Angels dressed in CinnaRed gowns nearly 30 years later and I could not be happier! It makes me feel like a teenager all over again. It's a 2/20/86 5 speed manual 100% original with 71k miles. only required an expert to cut the dead single stage paint, expert interior re-fresh, and of course replace rods, arms, bushings, boots, flex disc, .. and a good dusting on an old INXS cassette! Anyhow, .. here's my question, .. since EVERYTHING works and the car is complete right down to the rag in the trunk tool kit and the flashlight in the glove box - I wanted to see if I could get my hands on all the original brochure, owner's manual, and sales literature that would have come with the car. Any Idea, .. other than Ebay and Amazon (no luck) where these items can be found / bought? thanks all, .. Rich F - Columbia, SC
Welcome, that is a great story. You might want to try the bimmerforums E24 group and see what you can find there. http://www.bimmerforums.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?237-1976-1989-(E24) Sorry, I have no idea where you can get the literature that you are looking for.
Welcome to the club & forums, & yes, great story! You might be interested in sharkfest - website link didn't want to work for me, but found this: http://bigcoupe.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=24592&sid=9ea68c223df704cc219ff7495f1c7343 Did you have any luck w/ googling? I don't know how long back it goes (could be quite awhile!) but I think for a long time there we had somebody with an ad in the Roundel offering vintage literature and maybe manuals. Perhaps ask the BMWCCA foundation, they have a lot of stuff, maybe they'd have something to sell.
Thanks. I did join the Sharkfest FaceBook page and I do plan to bring the car to the event this year. Maybe I'll post the question on their page - that's a good idea- thanks for the head's up on that. I did try Googling and found 'some' stuff but most were wiring and electrical manuals specifically or manuals that were sales lit for a range of models covering a range of years - nothing specific to the year and model. I did try to call CCA yesterday and left voicemail - so waiting for a call back. i appreciate those suggestions. ... trying to assemble my Time Machine!
