What could be the reason(s) Why the valve cover gaskets on a 03 325it with n54 engine have to be replaced every 50,000 to 60,000 miles ?

Possibly because BMW's of yore (well, ok, up until the early 90's) didn't have self-adjusting valves, required valve adjustment every 15k, and valve-cover gaskets only needed to maintain a seal for that long (roundabouts), if they were maintained on schedule. There was no historical precedent for a 'lifetime' valve-cover gasket, and it would appear neither gasket-makers nor car-makers have created a 'lifetime' valve-cover gasket.

If they did make a lifetime gasket they would run themselves out of business. But why not a gasket that could last at least 100000 miles

Mine went 150,000 plus some. It was just starting to develop a small leak. Wow was it brittle!

The VCG outlasted the oil filter housing gasket!
