'04 Z4 My "SOS" system erroneously activated during our snow storm in NE Georgia last Sunday and will not stop calling the "Control Center". I don't subscribe to the service and would instruct the system that there wasn't a problem. A few times I asked the system to renew and I would ask the attendant to discontinue the call and reset system. I think after I parked, the car continued to communicate w/ the SOS system and run the battery down. I'll post the results (damages) from the Dealership.
You mean, of course, the BMW Assist service. Did the agent give you any indication as to why the car was activating the system? On newer cars, if you do not renew the service, the phone line is disconnected fairly quickly. On older cars, this has not been the case incidentally, which is why the call went through.
the local dealership disconnected the Assist service and recharged my battery for $106, which was fine by me. No one from BMW Assist or the dealership offered an explaination of why I had a system malfunction.
