Hi, I just got my Z4 back from the dealer, I asked them to add the smartphone integration for my Apple iPhone 3Gs. The snap-in adapter is very nice, much better than having the phone sliding around in the center console. Charging works, and the reception during phone calls seems better. Unfortunately, when the iPhone is connected to the snap-in adapter, I cannot access the music library at all. To do so I have to disconnect the phone from the snap-in adapter and connect it with the USB cable to the port inside the center console. The dealer says that this is correct functionality, but it seems strange to me. I thought I would be able to access the music on my phone when it was in the snap-in adapter. Has anyone else had experience with this? Tom
I believe they are correct, the integration seems to lock the phone into phone mode. I had explored several options and went with the DICE Silverline for my iPod Touch. I have an old case in the console which I use to hold the iPhone on long trips. With the integration kit you are using an aux antenna on the car which is probably why you have better reception. I installed the spec dock into the ash tray and in that way if I am using the iPhone for music, it charges and then uses the bluetooth in the car for phone calls. Works well but certainly not as nice looking as the integration kit.
