Well I guess it's time to start a build thread here too. Enjoy!

Well I bought my first M3 in August 2012. Here is her story.

I say this M3 in a garage with the front always jacked up. Was going to stop by to see the car but then I saw it on Craigslist.

Bought it for $2,500 :) What a steal...

Really Clean 118k miles, and had a spun bearing. O well I like to work on cars.

So called him right up and made my mind up i was going to buy it.

Got her home. (the oil trail is there because of no oil pan to prove what was wrong)

Swapped the BC Racing Coil overs and UUC Swaybarbarians from my 325i to the M3.

    Bad Bearing

Here are some of the Goodies going in.

Dinan Front and Rear Tower Bars, M50 Mani, New fog light bracket. Have a Dinan TB but i don't think i can use a OBDI in my car?

Donor S52 motor with new Crank.

UUC Lightweight Flywheel and M5 clutch.

    UUC Cat-back.

UUC SHK DSSR custom Poolball Shift Knob. Going to paint it yet.

    Pelican Parts.

    Crank back from Machine Shop

Rep M-Pars. Only 18's i want. Always wanted them also.

Guy I got them from was slammed so they have to small tire for my liking but i will run them because they are new.

The piece of resistance! Bought from VF Engineering for Valentines day....ha ha

Here is where the project stands.

Found out the Oil pump was on its last leg. More bearings where just as bad.

New crank and bearingsin and all the clearances are passing..

I think it takes some variety of tweaks and what not, but I think OBD1 manifolds onto the larger-displacement later OBD2 engine is a pretty common conversion, should be pretty well documented I'd think on bf.c, &c - google it up.

Nice project, good job, lookin' good so far!

If you widen your track so your wheels are 98% out of the fenders with 54° of neg. camber, that'll undoubtedly give a 400-500 bump up in horsepower. The car will handle great too, as long as the roads you drive have 45° banking.

Got my parts in. So now alot of stuff got put back together. Srry no pics this time will get some sometime.

Oil pan back in. Clutch and Pressure plate in. Vanos in (hopefully I did it right) T-stat and Housing in. Engine is back in the Cradle so no more custom bar needed. Steering rack is in. Still need to connect the Steering shaft but that is not to hard.

I think Im about 70-80% back together. Still need to put trans in, starter, M50 Mani, Shifter, Driveshaft,........list still goes on....lol Im growing more tired of looking at this covered in dust and I still have not driven it yet.

Doing all that, I would have considered a oil pan baffle from VAC before you bolt it all up.
Also swap the oil suction tube with an upgraded one.

Its just under 1,000 square feet.

But don't worry more progress is made. Trans is in. Just need to put the starter in. Exhaust and intake. Radiator. Add coolent and oil. Valve cover. Then we shale see if she will run. Or an epic fail on my part.

Sorry guys about not keeping this updated. I have been working and been lazy to update my threads in all the boards I'm on....lol

Anyway. I did get this back together. Then i had the engine way out of time and could not figure it out. So I took it to a shop and had them do it. They got it timed and now I have leak down in cyl..2 and 3. I think its bent valves from me trying to torque my crank and rod bolts. Dang thing kept moving on my. So now the head has to come off. Witch is a good thing because i was going to take it off to install a MLS head gasket and ARP head studs.

Also when I'm on Turner Motorsports and there shorty headers found there way into my shopping kart. So looks like I'm getting those also....lol Easier to install with the head off.

This thing will be ready for Spring. I want to drive it so bad.
