For those of you (me) who like to watch major construction projects, this weekend is a whopper. The bridge that links San Francisco to the East Bay is closed this weekend for major construction. Per the website:"...A 300-foot-long section of the original East Span will be cut and moved out of the way, 150-feet above Yerba Buena Island (YBI). A new double-deck section will then be slid into place, connecting the bridge with a new half-mile-long detour ... The traffic shift will allow crews to demolish a portion of the original bridge, and build a new (permanent) connection from the tunnel to the new East Span. This requires removal of an equal length on the old bridge (5 lanes each direction; stacked on top of each other)..."There are a bunch of "live-cams" set up to follow the action: http://baybridgeinfo.org/construction-cams
