    2000 323 2012 X5 CPO
Looking for some help. The CPO X5 has dual exhausts. Only one side seems to be working. Anyone have any ideas before I take it in to the dealer so they don't try and BS me like other BMW dealers have tried with other issues.
    Thanks.

That is normal operation for the X5. At idle BMW wanted to keep the vehicle quite as possible so they only allow exhaust flow out of one tail pipe but once you start driving a internal valve in the muffler will open allowing exhaust flow out of both tail pipes. We have used this method for years in are other cars (different method by external valve actuator and vacuum supply but same principle.) This method also helps to heat up the catalytic converters during the engine warm up phase to get the vehicle into closed loop faster so the vehicle can be more emission compliant.
