Hello, I have a 2003 325I that I just got a few months ago. I just changed the oil within the proper service time but am having trouble resetting the oil service light. I got some info on line which states after mid-2000 you should have a 20-pin DLC connector but I do not. If not it states to hold the left odometer reset while turning the key to position 1, keep holding it for 5 sec. until any of the following shows in the display: oil service or inspection with reset. Release and press again for another 5 sec. until reset or re flash. While display flashes, press button one more time briefly. If done correctly END SIA should show up. I go through the process and END shows up but does not reset it. I'm down to 325 miles to go. Any help would be great. Thanks Vince
Hi Vince, Here's a few things to check. Just to make sure... check your oil and make sure it's filled to the proper level. The first line on the dipstick is the add line.. and the second is full. Remember to check it when the engine is off and cool and the vehicle is on a level surface. If the oil isn't at the proper level.. the light will remain on or fail to reset. Also.. the sensor for the Light itself is prone to failure on your car. Stop by your local BMW Center (Dealership) and have them reset the light for you. Usually (most times-but not always) it's a free service. This way if they turn the light off.. and the oil is at the correct level.. it will more than likely be the sensor that's failed. And having seen a few in the garage I ran.. and if I were a bettin' man.. That would probably be where I'd look first! Good Luck and let us know what you find. -Michael (Gatsby..)
