My rearview mirror on 1999 323i fell off when I bumped it with a GPS unit that I was trying to mount. I stopped at AutoZone and picked up a repair kit and tried to fix it with no luck. The mirror is too heavy and the instructions for the kit basically say to glue on the "button" and then mount the mirror to the button. The mirror is a one piece unit. Does anyone have a fix for this? Thanks. DSC
Call or stop by a local glass shop. They do it day in and day out. I punted the interior mirror on my E36 318i after my last run at the Solo Nationals in 2007 when I was taking off my helmet. Fortunately, the car was on a trailer heading east about two hours later so I didn't need it for the ride home. When I got back home, I went to the glass shop where the windshield was installed a few years earlier. The guys were very nice. They asked me if I had five minutes. Sure. They reinstalled the mirror and told me not to adjust it for 24 hours. I asked what did I owe them. The desk guy said don't worry about it. I went out and flipped the guy who did the work a fin to spend on lunch/beer/whatever. All this was much easier and better than I could have ever done. I have done those mirror kits before, but for modern mirrors it is a lot more difficult. Good luck.
