I bought my 2005 Z4 (2.5L, manual) last October with only 33K miles on it. Since then I've driven well over 15K very enjoyable miles. I use it as my daily driver here in North Texas. The top is down at any time the temp is over 45F but under 105F.

My only issue is that the internal rear view mirror appears to be an automatic dimming version but does not dim at all. Since I drive in an area of the country where pickup trucks and SUV's are very popular, their headlights shine right into my eyes at night on my way home from work.

There is a sensor on the upper trim right above the glass. Shining a light into the sensor has no effect on the mirror. I've read the owners manuals but have not found a solution.

Any helpful comments or suggestions would be appreciated.

Sounds like you have the correct mirror, but it may be defective. Mine is sporadic in its dimming capability, sometimes it does and other times it doesn't.
