My 745i windshield suffered a fatal stone fracture and was replaced by Guardian by a nice Pilkington. While the windshield was out, a shower required us to move the car. After reassembly the rain sensor was inoperative; we eventually determined that the computer had decided the car had no rain sensor and had to be reinitialized by a dealer. Do other models behave this way and can this problem can be prevented by keeping the ignition off while the sensor is unplugged? These little gotchas can cause a lot of trouble!
