So I am looking at a potential E 46 purchase. My mechanic suggested a Pre Purchase Inspection. Sounds great. The nearest dealer wants $275.00. Is this what I would expect to pay at any BMW dealership? Is there a cheaper route?

Find a local BMW-specific indie shop maybe? I wouldn't know if there's a typical running rate for a dealer pre-insp. or if $275 is in-line. Sounds a little pricey to me if you pass on the car - I'd be okay w/ $100-$150 to know there's strong reason to pass on a prospective buy.

Some areas may have mobile inspection service - we have a local club member here in the Dayton. Oh. area who does that.
