For those who may be interested, I uploaded a few pictures to the BMWCCA Z series photo Gallery. http://bmwcca.org/gallery/showgallery.php?cat=508 The pics are from the "Nittany Z's" assault on US-129, Deal's Gap, aka The Dragon, last August. The pics were shot by www.killboy.com. A group of 6 cars/couples (4 from State College PA, 1 from SW Virginia and me from SE CT) hooked up in Pigeon Forge TN to spend some time exploring the legendary roads of the Smokeys before continuing on to Greenville SC for the final BMW Roadster Homecoming gathering. enjoy...
If you get a shot at a clean run with no traffic or Law Enforcement, like we did on Wednesday morning... it is absolutely INCREDIBLE. 70 to 30 turn right back up to 70 back down to 30 turn left back up to 70, repeat 318 times and you get the idea
Your brakes must have been GLOWING! Of course for me it would probably be 70 to 30, then to 50 back to 30. lol I can't keep up with ya! It's the Nurburgring of the USA that I dream about. If I can't have the Nurb, then I want a road like what you just described. Aren't there any good roads in here southern CT? Or at least in this state in general?
1.) yes, you could feel the heat coming off the brakes from 3 feet away 2.) No, there are no roads even close to this in CT. Maybe the Kangamagus in NH
The Dragon gets most of the press, but.... There are lots of very good roads near the Dragon, 128 heading South from Caesars Head is one of my favorites.
