    Good afternoon everybody,
I just purchased a 1985 528E with just over 100K and would like to know which one of the oil light reset tools work. I've seen some on ebay for less than $20 from China and didn't know if I should trust them. The local quickie lubes don't have the proper tool.
    Thanks

    Hey Steven,
Thanks for getting back to me. The paper clip sounds interesting. I was the guy who was called in to straighten out the installation of the x-ray machine at your new employee health clinic last year. I am thinking that you simply jumper across 2 pins. Which 2? If you can't give out that info, I understand.

I'm not a fan of this method. I bought the Peake and now use an app off my phone for my OBD-II cars.
A clearer writeup is at http://www.unofficialbmw.com/e36/electrical/e36_reset_service_lights.html

    We don't have an x-ray machine. :)
That must have been at the plant. We are independent from BMW Manufacturing, BMW NA an BMW AG.

Jump pins 1 and 7 in your diagnostic connector (the pin position is shown on the underside of the red or black cap - and it reflects the position of the pins when the cap is installed).
