New Weber Carb, small problem?

Hello, I just got my '81 316 back from the shop. Had the Solex carb swaped out for a Weber (the Solex seized up). I also had the mid-muffler replaced with a custom less-restrictive pipe.

So, to my small problem; the car runs great, no issues starting it or accelerating, but when I pull out of 1st gear a puff of smoke comes from the exhaust and it definitely smells like gas. Also, when I'm just cruising you can smell the gas from the car, but it's not visible.

    Any thoughts?

Which Weber did you install, the 32/36? They have a secondary enrichment port that many people recommend you plug when doing the retrofit (at least on the 2002). I rejetted mine and went ahead and plugged the port at that time and do have to say, it runs a lot better and smoother but I don't ever recall any smoke from the exhaust prior to plugging it?

Does the smoke appear when you lift off the gas in first to go to second or is it when you get back on the gas in second?
