Hello all proud NYC owner and member cant wait to meet up with the rest of the NY Chapter, I am a big bimmer fan and Euro fan. I wish my E60 was M/T that was preferred choice but I'm still happy with my purchase, hope fully my next bimmer will be in M/T because I think the conversion is just not worth it....unless its a good shop that knows what they are doing.
Welcome to the club and congrats on the new e60. And don't worry about the M/T the auto transmission has an equally fun manual mode to play with. You are right the conversion is not worth it for the price of parts and labor plus only the dealership could code out the automatic transmission module so you won't have a transmission warning light on. Of course thats no easy task either because BMW RTE (Regional technical engineer) has to get involved and send a new VO (vehicle order) to be uploaded in the car. Anyway welcome and enjoy the new car!
Thanks greatly appreciated, You're right the A/T does have a manual mode to play with but I'm a such a M/T lover its crazy lol. I am very happy with my baby and I have no complaints or quarrels well just one..but i said that in my introduction lol, I didnt know that BWM RTE had to get involved in that process when it came to the conversion but I'm glady not doing that all. Once again thank you for the welcome and I plan to enjoy her to the fullest.
Said to say it but that is probably true, we had to fight to get them in the M5/M6. The M3 is questionable if it will come with one.
Dislike, Satch, Dislike. That will probably drive the market for slightly loved CPO's with manual gearboxes sky high...wait a minute...I have a slightly loved manual gear box...maybe I should start stocking up on them and sell them black market style. "Pssstttt, I know where you can get a BMW with a proper transmission" Says my man on the corner in a trench coat
