Your best source for ED information is the Euro Delivery Forum. The dealer makes far less profit on an ED than on a normal delivery so they may be less willing to negotiate. We paid more over invoice for my ED 128i than we did for our normal delivery 328xi. We decided that it was worth paying a little more to keep our relationship with the local dealer. There are a number of dealers that offer substantial discounts on ED cars. You could buy the car through one of them, have it delivered to the Performance Center, take the driving class, and drive your car home. We cashed in hotel and airline points for most of the trip. The remaining total expenses were less than the ED discount, so the trip was free. The experience is really worth the effort.
ED pricing It has always been my understanding that Euro Del. pricing is a set discount...is that not the case?? are you saying that you can negotiate a price on a vehicle and then say I want to take Euro Del.??? Thanks
Some dealers will sell you a vehicle only at BMW's prescribed ED pricing while others will negotiate the ED price based off their actual cost of said vehicle for ED which has lower pricing than a std. U.S. sale vehicle. Many people buy from ED specialist dealers if the local dealer won't negotiate. Most local dealers with any knowledge of ED know it's worth discounting to save a customer and get a sale.
i recently bought my car for 400USD over invoice price. So there are dealers out there willing to work with you on the pricing. With ED delivery option invoice base price is lowered. Cant remember off top of my head but it was something in the range of 3-4K USD.
Euro Delivery base prices (invoice/MSRP) are approximately 7% below those for US delivery. Option prices are not discounted. The negotiable part, as always, is the dealer's profit: The difference between total invoice price and total MSRP. ED is no different. If the dealer tells you otherwise, shop elsewhere (unless you're feeling generous).
I'm paying about $1K over the dealer's cost for my ED car. Dealer cost is ~7% less for an ED car. I've talked to many others who have negotiated similar prices. The price you pay for an ED car is as negotiable as any other car. The dealer just has a different set of costs and incentives.
David Aviles - Eurocarsonline.com I can personally recommend David Aviles for ED and the best price to boot. You can find him at http://www.eurocarsonline.com. He works out of Northwest BMW, a Baltimore, MD, dealership, but handles clients from all over the U.S.
Thanks for the link. You may want to edit it though since there is a comma in place of a period that makes the link fail.
It's a fixed 7 percent off the Base Invoice price. The way to buy a car for ED is to negotiate the best price on the car first (typically $500 to $1000 above dealer invoice) then announce you want to take ED and get the 7 percent discount on top of the best price you have agreed to. If the dealer refuses, go to another dealer. Eventually you will get the car for that price.
