hey, what do you know, that IS my car and thats the back of my head in the bottom picture too. How about that! i didn't know there were so many awesome picture of it taken! I really had a hoot at that autocross, and oddly enough I feel like I am a more capable driver after driving like a get away driver. Although. I must say, the Autobahn last week was a totally different kind of driving thrill, so much that I am looking for some sort of relocation to Germany. ... hmm, I wonder if they need crazy driving landscape designers in Munich? Shoot, i'd even lower myself to cleaning toilets at the BMW Welt.
I think you're in the picture before the last one too, in front of the white column. I don't know who took the pics, maybe Steven S., I believe he was there. The pics are up in one of the BMW CCA Facebook page picture albums, 67 in all. Find someone who's using facebook, and find the BMW CCA page (http://www.facebook.com/bmwcca) and you can look through the pic. albums. I could do it, but it would take quite awhile to individually look at all 67 pics, extract the facebook URL for each picture and then copy & paste the pic. links here. The way facebook works, pictures someone uploads into a facebook "album" are not given a sequentially advanced lettering/numbering, so each picture has a long, convoluted, seemingly inexplicable filename that's a jumble of unique numbers and letters. Consequently, posting the links for numerous pictures is not as simple as copying over what typically might be the same url and filename except for ending in 67 sequential numbers. As an example, here's one of the other BMWCCA facebook album url's: https://sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-snc7/292373_10151043028813879_213425328_n.jpg Welcome back, btw, & hope it was a great trip!
I must say, this is the first time it has been inconvient for me to not have a Facebook Page. As much as I would enjoy looking at the pics on the Facebook Page, I'll just have to stay curious. Thanks for sharing them! It's always kind of a chuckle to me to find out that my face is on the interest and I have no idea about it, but then again, I have been known to be an absolute junkie about having my picture taken.
Mrs. Bee, et al: Yes, looking ahead is important at an autocross as much as on the road. You looked hesitant but if that was your first autocross ever, you did fine. The hand shuffle is important so your hands are not bumping into one another and rotating the steering wheel is actually easier. You can probably find more autocrosses with the local BMWCC, the SCCA, or another marque club in your area. The PC course was a simple course and perfect to get your feet wet. A typical course should not be a memorization exercise nor should it be a series of straights with turns (can you say "Corvette Event? ). For example the SCCA National Championships had two very good courses that were easy to follow and paid off with fast times if the "line" was driven correctly. West Course in a Celica: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ly4g5zTZApw&feature=related East Course: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xwZwb-hghr0&NR=1&feature=endscreen I do not have video set up in my 1M Coupe or I'd share it. Best I can offer are stills: https://picasaweb.google.com/116511746312170569817/2012SoloNationalsAS?authkey=Gv1sRgCPzopNCAzverJw#5786222350692244786 To music in 2010 (I co-drove a Viper you see scooting by at about 4:21) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pTCvudqDqkc
Next thing we'll learn is that there is gambling at "Rick's." I wish the lot was larger at O'fest and I might have made the ride out. I'd toss those 19" Hoosiers in the 1M and be there.
Hi, Steven. I'm interested in doing this, but how can I arrange to be informed when the PC puts on events such as this? I checked their website and didn't see any info on this type of events. I did the club's M day in Spartanburg last year, and it was a blast. A great facility back there. Thanks.
