01 330ci. At approximately the three quarters point of closing the moon roof automatically reopens. Will close if control is held in the closing position until the cycle ends. The tracks have been checked and nothing appears damaged additionally they are relatively clean. This happens about 60 percent of the closing events. Any ideas.
I would say the tracks/rails are dirty or gummy. Mine failed with the guides breaking. My experience was the grease on the tracks had gummed up over the years and got really sticky in a few spots. When I repaired the sunroof, I also cleaned the tracks well and re-lubed them. Roof automatically reopens in middle of close cycle Wanted to know if cleaning the tracks did anything for your possessed problem. My roof will do the same thing. In the end of the cycle it will reopen about three quarters of the way. Does not do it all the time some days more than others, some days it works fine.
Hi Bill, I still have the random closing/openign issues, but much less often. I presume there may be some alignment issues of the slide guides and maybe some remaining gumminess in the rails. For what it is worth, it happens much less often than before. In short, yes cleaning the tracks did help significantly. Bob
