On one hand, it's interesting that this thread is more than a year old... ...and refuses to die, apparently. On the other hand, I feel that Randy's complaint is hardly a minority malcontent, as this project's critics have been dismissed as. This project was truly a case of a "dogcatcher being hired to drive the bus." The expression can be used to describe any instance of an obviously unqualified individual or entity being tasked with an important responsibility, with painfully self-evident results. The point you seem to be missing, Frank, is that it's not about the money. It's about whether or not this company is qualified and mature enough to tackle this project -- an emphatic "no" from this skeptical BMWCCA member. What do you want to do, Frank? Refund my money too? That might be a challenge, considering I didn't spend any, but I did get the hard sell, as well as have this company play fast and loose with basic Ethics 101. How are you going to "refund" principles?
BC, Anyone who has ever purchased a car - new or used from a dealer has experienced a hard sell. Having been there and done that I can safely say that no one who was contacted by Harris experienced anything close to that. How can I say that? Because I listened to countless tape recordings of the calls between our members and Harris representatives. I do not believe you have enough information upon which to base your comments. If you would like to have a mature discussion I am available to you at anytime, however I am not going to further debate this project with you on the forums. Nearly three thousand members chose to participate in the album. Putting together the thoughts, memories and photos of that many people was not an easy task. I am deeply sorry that Randy's page did not make it into the book. A representative from Harris has already reached out to him at my request. Every effort to ameliorate this situation will be made. While you are correct that Randy cannot be made whole, a desire to "flame" this project will not help. Frank
