The leather on my gear shift knob is wearing on the back edge behind the shift pattern emblem. The "black" has rubbed off about 3/16" down from the emblem, leaving a slightly less black appearance. Has anyone else run into this? Is this something that can be touched up? What would you use?
I'm starting to have this issue on my ZHP knob. I'm starting to be at peace with it. When I first got it, I was desperately trying to keep the oil on my hand to a minimum (washing hands thoroughly with soap and water lol) but I realized that it's just more work than it's worth. I wouldn't worry about it 'till the leather physically starts coming off, at which point I'd buy a new shift knob. If this bothers you, I would suggest buying a knob made of aluminum. No leather to wear there, and I don't think it wears at all (though I don't have one to confirm that). Otherwise, I don't think there's really anything you can do. Perhaps a leather conditioner?
I have no idea if this would work, might be worth giving them a call and having a conversation - (this was only one place that googled up, undoubtedly there's others) http://www.leatherworldtech.com/Dep...d-Paint.aspx?gclid=CNG2iNGF3JwCFRND5godACSFIg Check out the Auto Leather Dye Color Chart -
