I don't even own a pair of jumper cables. I was going to finally buy a set then my buddy said he heard that its bad for the electrical systems in the car to jump it. He suggested one of those battery based jump starting kits, the one where you don't connect to another car. Is he nuts?
It's better than hauling around 30lbs of booster I've never seen an owners manual that didn't show where the jump points were, and never read that it was bad. That being said, it is possible to fry relays (E30 ABS). Some manuals suggest removing certain fuses to isolate those circuits. I have a booster charger and a booster battery for home/shop and carry jumpers in each car. If the 2yr old leaves the reading light on overnight, he gets the booster as a footrest, but that's only one trip. Your friend...he's not nuts, but I'll beat him off the line without the booster. ei
