How do I reset the mintenance indicator on E90?

I saw in a bimmerfest forum that a dealer told someone only they can reset the service needed indicators. Is this true? That may be fine until free maintenance ends at 50K miles, but I intend to do the basics (oil, filters, brakes, etc.) myself after that. If I have to bring it into the dealer every time to reset this I am not a happy person!

Anyone know if I can reset it myself?

As with many things...reading the owners manual will set you free from many of the, shall we call it mis-information about BMW ownership. You will find that BMW gives you full instruction on how to self-reset your service indicators.
