When I bought my 2010 Z4 3.0, I read a Road & Track article comparing the Z4 and the Porsche Boxter. The article indicated the Porsche had a better suspension and that the Z4 was a bit hoppy or jumpy on uneven pavement. Well, I liked the look of the Z4 and the hardtop vs. cloth of the Boxter. Road & Track was right, but after four years of daily driving, I am wondering if there is a cure for this hoppy suspension so the car is as glued to the road through turns like other BMWs I've owned. Looking forward to hearing from someone who has experience with a possibly solution.
They where talking about the Z4? I could understand comparing the Z3. You could do stiffer springs, bigger anti-roll bar. You sure all your suspension bushings are in good shape?
There have to be lots of aftermarket suspension options for springs and shocks, might be a matter of coming up with a judicious choice of the available options. A Dinan suspension package might be an option - assuming they've developed something for your model.
Dinan does not offer a suspension upgrade for the 2009 and up Z4. I'm in the same boat. Searching for ways to tighten up the suspension. I'm looking at larger anti-roll bars.
