    About the time you start believing that is when it will happen. Apparently, you've never been at an event where a car rolled ... or crashed into a concrete lot marker ... or killed a spectator or worker. These have all happened. That is why I have never felt about autocross as you do. It must always be safe and, if it appears that it will not be, I will be the first to speak up about it, whether it's a poorly aimed straightaway, a badly chosen worker placement, or a wildly out-of-control competitor, safety cannot be compromised.

    I did not mean to imply that carelessness or indifference regarding safety can be tolerated at autocross. It cannot. Bad things happen anywhere.
