It's a BMW 'brag badge' about a bunch of motorcycle, hillclimb, touring car, etc. races and wins. Type it out and plug it into Altavista's Babelfish for a close translation, which is what I'd do with the half dozen terms I don't immediately recognize. If anything doesn't come across, get back here about it. Sometimes, an 'invented' German term doesn't show up there. Minor point: your title doesn't mean exactly what you want it to mean. It should be "auf Deutsch". 'Deutsche' is an adjective, not the language.
Thanks for that. Actually,I was showing my 2002 at the Geneva Concours d'Elegance last week in Geneva, IL., and a German fellow translated for me. It's sort of an omnibus listing of wins both for motorcycles, cars, hillclimbs, touring car racing, etc. I'm very happy to display it on the grille of the car, as my 02 is a 1970. Oh and thanks for the German lesson. My grandfather spoke perfect German. I studied Spanish. C'est la vie, non? Cheers, Tom Schmidt
It is quite appropriate on a 1970 car. My German is far from perfect, but natives find it passable when I am there.
Here is an accurate translation: For sporty success in 1970. World Champtionship for motorcycles -- 1970. Manufacturer's Cup - for the 17th time in a row (motorcycles). European Hillclimb championship cup for (modified) stock cars National and Regional Championships [This would be a summary over many years] : 106 Overall Victories 1792 victories in class 184 category victories 2751 honorable mentions 1045 gold medals 755 silver medals 662 bronze medals Craig Reisser - BMW CCA member #4264 '71 2002 since new & '98 323iC Cabrio (both 5-speed manuals)
Thanks for that, Craig. It's a bit of an insight into BMW's resurgence. The motorcycle group was the standard bearer, and the motorcars were coming up...just then.
