Just joined and am waiting for my new joy to arrive here in Florida from San Diego via truck. Had a new 2800CS in Germany, 1970 and enjoyed touring throughout Europe with it. Bought it back to the states and was having an A/C install done when the garage burned down and a steel beam divided the CS in two...lo, 40 years later I'm starting all over again with a '74 3.0 CS with 3.5 engine. Chris Keefer at LaJolla Independent, Inc. has done most of the work on the car for the last 10 years and I highly recommend him. I'll be watching for an opportunity to receive some instruction in driving. Best to all my new fellow Bimmer enthusiasts!
Welcome to the asylum! Sweeeeet! Yes, the San Diego area is quite famous for La Jolla Independent, where Carl Nelson has been the resident "coupe doctor" for many years. He and Kris and the rest of the LJ Independent gang---VERY independent!---keep a lot of us on the road!
LaJolla Independent Satch-- Carl, Rob, Dan--all the guys there were great to me, and yes, characters all but they certainly seem to have their sheise zusammen as far as my car went. I had basically given Chris carte blanche after he told me about it, to get it in the shape I wanted, at least to start out. I flew out and drove it up to Ventura and back and left him with a punch list--not a single item that he had worked on though. The truck is supposed to pick it up there in a few days, and I have a high comfort level in Chris watching over the loading. It was also way fun to drive with him through the hills above LaJolla Blvd! Your wheels don't look too shabby either, Pal...
