Good day to you all, thank you for having me and sponsoring a car club around my new obsession, BMW vehicles. It's feels very good to be here. I understand that there are benefits like discounts on labor and parts at certain mechanics or dealers, is this in fact true? Where or how do I locate one of these BMWCCA affiliated repairmen? Thanks .
Welcome to the Club!! Most BMW dealers offer anywhere from 10% to 20% off parts. Check Roundel advertisers. I have not heard of any offering a discount on labor. BMP Design also offers 10% off on parts to members. www.bmpdesign.com For an independent BMW mechanic check out http://www.bimrs.org/ to find one near you. To figure out part numbers go to www.realoem.com, very helpful in finding part number when going to order parts.
Thanks for the responses. I've already discovered realoem, and used toget part-numbers and have already replaced many items on my car. I haven't got any good photos yet, but here is one I took shortly after buying it. I have removed those clear lenses and replaced with a more smoked color lens
I like smoked lenses myself too! I haven't gotten them for my E36 yet. What brand did you go with? Are those wheels from a 7 series? I like them.
I purchased the lights from Ebay, and the brand on them is Depo. I believe that the rims are from a 5 or 7 series. The BMW part number is 36111182277
So you guys basically regard your lights as decorations, not actual illumination. In my book, that falls under the category of 'ricer'.
When it comes to headlights, I would agree that maximum illumination is the top priority but when it comes to the corners, as long as the lights are easily visible, I think a smoked lens will look much better than the clears he has on the car in the photo. I wouldn't consider that to be 'rice'. Now if he puts a park bench on the trunk and calls it a spoiler and then puts a big "Powered by Mugen" sticker in the back window.... Well, that's a whole different story...
Okay wise guys. I am running Hella H4/H1with euro phillips bulbs in both my E30s! Major candle power. My 318i also has Hella 500 fogs on it. So the road is well lit up! We were referring to his turn signals, front, rear, and side. Also, just so you know, Depo makes a nice set of euro headlights for the E36. A lot cheaper than the Hella ones and the Depo ones are glass too. BMP and Turner Motorsport sells them. They run H1 bulbs. I have not bought these yet for my E36. See I smoked my turnsignals on my 318i too.
Don't listen to Mister Crankypants! CR, he say: Heh! Don't mind those of us in the Old Guard too much! We just cranky because we can't afford 19-inch wheels! Hey, wait a minute. . . my Dinan$ ARE nineteens! At any rate, welcome to the loony bin.
Oh I am aware of CR's MO! I am just sorry I didn't get to meet his acquaintance at O'fest this past Sept. I do believe CR and I are on the same page when it comes to big lighting. I love going to Hella's website to see what they have come up with. I just like my turnsignals smoked!
Yeah; we do need to do some 'beerage' sometime soon. [Where's da damn BEER smiley? What web forum only has eleven lousy smileys? ] Hell; I didn't catch Satch in spite of my intentions to do so at Watkins Glen, even though I had to look at that damn flame job every time I looked out my hotel room window. Maybe I will manage Atlanta this year.
