So I'm about to purchase a car in Georgia and get it home to WV. My state DVM does not have a temporary tag I can use for this purpose. Any ideas?
If you're buying it on site, they wont' sell it with a temp plate? If you're buying from a dealer or a dealer-like seller (as opposed to an individual), I would think they'd be setup to do a temporary registration, how can they be selling cars with no means for sellers to legally drive away with it after having bought it? If nothing else, I'd think you'd be able to get a temp. registration from Georgia BMV, although that might mean paying Georgia tax on the purchase. See if the Georgia BMV website had a discussion of temporary plates or some-such.
Interesting. Thinking about just throwing a current tag bringing an insurance card and crossing my fingers
Problem solved. Seller is willing to let me drive on his tags! This is feeling good. Going to do a full BMW pre-inspection at dealership he works at.
Well today is the big day. Off to Atlanta in a few hours to see if I will be driving home later today. This car seems great and looking forward to the first drive!
