I recently had a meeting with a curb at a pretty decent speed that's left my car in bad shape. I'm positive that I've bent the FL control arm, the wheel, and possibly the tie rod. Im sure there are more damages than Im not capable of diagnosing... Can anyone suggest an independent here in Savannah, Ga. for the repair? My car will be making it's way to my local dealer tomorrow for a professional inspection and estimate, but I'd prefer dealing with a knowledgeable independent rather than my "service advisor" here. Also, has anyone ever tried to upgrade parts while using an insurance claim? I'm waiting to see the initial estimate before I decide to involve my insurance co., but if I decide to do so can I upgrade my control arms if i pay the difference in relation to OEM and any additional labor (R control arm) ect.?
I had no problem upgrading parts with an insurance claim. The mechanic get $x from the insurance and just charges you the difference. What upgraded control arm are you getting? If it's non-oem you'll have to workout ordering and delivery with the mechanic.
