Hi, Would someone recommend where to buy quality non-OEM parts? I found this ad on youtube http://www.bmpdesign.com/product-ex...egory_id/102/search_year/2005/search_model/75 http://www.bmpdesign.com/product-ex...egory_id/102/search_year/2005/search_model/75 Did someone buy these from this website? how good is the quality ? Thank alot Asanly
I chose the Meyle heavy duty bushings from autohausaz.com for our '00 328i - replacement for BMW part # 31-12-6-783-376. I'm happy with them so far, and they're currently on sale! To make sure it's the correct part for your newer model, give them a call. http://www.autohausaz.com/search/product.aspx?sid=yfo01b55u4oq1j45jiu2h3z0&partnumber=31126783376
replace control arms Hi John, Did you have to replace the whole control arms after you replace the bushings few months or a year later because ball joints worn out ? The mechanic recommend us to replace the whole control arms and bushings because he said the ball joints are OK right now but will soon wear out. These are are problematic for 99 on, Thanks Rocky
It was determined that just the bushings were bad on our car with 60K miles. The ball joints were good at that time (this past Nov), so I will replace the entire control arm in another 60K miles (hopefully!). It may hold up as my wife is the primary driver of this car, ~10 miles/day on suburban streets.

I watched a few members replace the entire control arms + bushings on their E46s at our club's DIY tech sessions. The most difficult thing was reaching one of the bolts via the engine compartment - took a few extensions. Our club has the proper bushing removal tool which also helps. Then an alignment is performed by the event-sponsoring shop.
John, Thanks for the info. I tried search on youtube only found clips showing to replace the bushings but could not find any clip showing replace the entire front lower control arm. Did any of your club members happened recorded and posted in any sites ? Thanks Rocky&Asanly
There are many DIYs on the E46-specific sites, but here's a good write-up: http://forum.e46fanatics.com/showthread.php?t=421918 It was found through this thread: http://forum.e46fanatics.com/showthread.php?t=519743 Here are 8 more pages of posts found there with a search involving front+control+arm: http://forum.e46fanatics.com/search.php?searchid=13141130 You'll find even more perusing the E46 section of bimmerforums.com: http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=15
