I have a 2019 X3 3.0 X Drive with just 25,000 and just had to replace the motor mounts because of a vibration in the drive train. I had an extended warranty, but some reason motor mounts were covered under the factor "Platinum" plan. As a result, I am out $2,500 for replacement of parts which I do not think should have failed with so few miles on them. I examined the parts that were pulled off my vehicle and it was pretty clear to see that the fluid inside the mount had been leaking. My wife and I do not drive this vehicle hard and it has been meticulously maintained.
HOWEVER, when talking to at least two mechanics and a parts guy at my dealership, it sounds like there have been many failures of engine mounts on turbocharged four cylinder vehicles of this era. "We've seen a lot of these failures," said a former parts guy and now a service advisor.
I wonder if anyone knows whether anything is underway at BMW to do a "soft recall" on this problem or if anyone else has experienced a failure and would like to see if we could get BMW to throw us a bone. Thoughts?

I meant to say that "for some reason motor mounts were NOT covered" under the plan I have.

I wouldn't expect anything. Most folks wont notice so it probably wont cross their radar if it is indeed a defective part in some way. Even if it is, they will likely not consider it safety related for a recall of any type since the motor is still connected to the chassis.
