My 84 633 refuses to idle smoothly, I have done everything possible in the repair manual and nothing has worked. I decided to check the flywheel for the position sensor pin and could not see anything on the flywheel. I assume what I'm looking for is a steel ball bearing mounted on the edge of the flywheel but I'm not 100%. Can anyone tell me what I should be looking for.

    Thanks,
    Eric

The piece actually is more of a tab. It sits on the outside diameter of the flywheel. It does not look like a "ball bearing." Also, your car will not start up an run without it so I doubt that is your problem.

if you have gone through the manual I am sure you have thoroughly checked for vacuum leaks? What about a valve adjustment?

+1- its absence will not cause idle problems.

Thanks, I thought so as well but I have run out of things to troubleshoot for my rough idle. Taking it to a real mechanic this weekend.

    Thanks again,
    Eric
