Greetings all. Purchased an '07 335i coupe last month. At 57 years old, I feel like I am 16 again. I have always been a Japanese enthusiast. Couple of 300ZX's, a Lexus SC400 to name a few. Then my daughter bought a sweet '92 325is with 70K on the clock. I couldn't believe how tight that car was. At that moment I changed my religion from Japanese to German. Anyway, looking forward to learning and contributing.
Welcome to the asylum! You got one of the good ones: the N54 twin-turbo engine. It has some built-in problem areas, but when it's right, it's a stunner (especially if you let that nasty Dinan kid mess with the computer). Some people will tell you that the single-turbo "Twin Power" N55 is just as fast, but they are deluded. I know what you mean about BMW being the Fountain of Youth. Or, as Joe Pesci would put it, of Yoot. The roadster makes me seventeen again, although the California Highway Patrol sees it differently.
German cars are addicting, car people get it others don't see why we put up with the expense and issues they seem to have sometimes. Lots of good tunes out there, I've heard a lot of good things about the Cobb Tuning access port. 300hp is still lots of fun and tinkering becomes an obsession way too easily. Enjoy the car.
