    Hello all,

I'm hoping someone has had experience with the speed limiter setting and tire specifications and can help me figure this out. In December '24 I bought a CPO 2023 M340i that came from the factory with 19" wheels and Pirelli all season (93H) tires. At a DE event at Summit Point Motorsports Park I discovered my car is limited to 130mph from the factory due to the tire specifications.

Can I get the speed limit increased when I upgrade my tires to a High Performance summer tire? Without voiding the warranty?

Some googling I found there is an option #840 speed synchronization. Looks like it needs to be coded. I don't know if that is something the dealer can do or you need to an app.

    Thanks Steven.

My service contact at Hendricks told me something similar, with the additional tidbit that there is not a BMW approved means of changing that post delivery. Option 840 gets an oil cooler, speed rated tires, and the speed limit increase.

My fault for not doing more research, or I wouild have held out for a car with the 840 option over the low miles this one has. Now I've got to decide whether to unlock the DME and add a tune at the expense of the warranty, or just live with 130mph peak speed when I do track days for now. BMW definitely made it more difficult after 2020.
