Has anyone had a problem with the engine service light coming on? I have taken to a BMW dealership and was told everything is alright. They turn it off and then it comes back on. Could it be the use of ethanol gas?

    Looking for wisdom

They didn't tell you what caused the CEL?

I've been using ethanol for some time now. No CEL.

No they did not tell me what caused the light-they said they could not tell me for sure-could have been a gas cap that was not tight.
It has come back on 3 times.

That means it is an evaporative emissions code that is turning it on. There could be a crack in an evap line, a bad evap valve, etc. Take it to an independent and have them smoke check the evap system if there is an evap code.

    Same problem

I've been having the same problem. My ODB II code scanner pulls the code 1403 - Charcoal Cannister Purge Valve electrical. I've checked the electrical connections to this valve and they seem okay physically.
I'm thinking I should replace the valve.

    Any thoughts?
