I know that e90/92/93 M3s have a tendency to burn oil, but just a week ago I put a liter in due to a notification that I had low oil, then on a trip from Va Beach to Washington DC, I got another notice that it was low. I had put maybe 400-500 miles since I put the last liter in. Is this normal or is it a bit high? It sat for about 7 months (my girlfriend drove it regularly) while I was on deployment, and I haven't seen this level of oil loss up until now.

Anybody else have experience with this?

This is normal for this vehicle to consume a liter every 500 miles and it's faster the more spirited driving you do. Just make sure you have no smoking from tailpipes and oil leaking on the engine.
