First off I apologize if I placed this in the wrong section, it's my first post as a new member. I'm looking to change my transmission fluid on my 2002 m3. There are numerous posts of people using redline and royal purple fluid vs oem fluid. Anyone have any imput on this? I have noticed my gears have been notchy and at times hard to shift Into first gear on a cold start up. Is this normal? My m3 has 36xxx miles.

your car is a baby still. I have heard great things from both, i think its just personal preference.

As for the Redline, I would say to get the MTL 70W80 GL4 gear oil, not the D4 ATF even though both will work for you.

i agree. its like the old adage, opinions are like a. . .

I do not have an M3, but I used Redline in my Bimmers. It reduced the notch a good bit, but it is still there some. Keep in mind, they arent supposed to be lazy man smooth like their japanese counterparts.
