The mileage on my E36 odometer comes and goes. Sometimes it is just fine. Other times it just shows partial numbers. It seems there must be a bad connection somewhere. The dealer's answer is just to replace the whole speedometer for $700 + labor. Any ideas where the poor connection could be? It doesn't seem that hitting a bump causes this to come and go. Incidently, I have the same situation with my date/time display. Sometimes it is very bright and visible, other times it just is blank. Coincidence or is there a problem with a ground or something?
