This is probably the most reliable modern bmw you can buy so I'd say so. You looking at a M240i/M235i or the 228i/230i? I can't speak for the 228i but my M235i has been a great daily driver thus far. It should be noted that the M235i has a single turbo versus the twin turbo setup of the 4 cylinder 228i. Speaking as an engineer, the fewer parts the better. Plus you get a sweet straight 6 with the single turbo.
The 228i is still a great choice and even better with the m-sport package. Definitely test drive one to get a feel for it.
Yes go cpo especially with the miles you drive that way you will take less of a value hit compared to a new car.
I don't know what route you decided to go but I've had my 228i 6MT for the last 70K+ miles and it's the best daily driver I've had in over 25 years of driving.
Thanks for the feedback. I ended up with an E46 2002 325Ci. Been commuting for a while now and it has been great.
I have the M235i x-drive, while a doctor friend of mine has a 230i x- drive. Can't go wrong with either one. I love my 6, but the 4 cyl is a great motor, a bit lighter and doesn't drink nearly as much gas. Try to find a same year CPO just off a corporate 6000k lease if you can find one; somewhat difficult but worth the work if you can Best, 3hawks
