I took my 2005 530 (Manual) in for service due to emissions warning. After a day of diagnosis, (lean mixture, rich mixture, O2 sensor, both banks) the dealer indicated a bad cyclonic separator. I can not find this part at Bav Auto. Is this an expensive repair?
There is a BMW TSB on replacing the CCV (Crank Case Ventilation Valve) with an updated cold weather version for the US. This link lists the BMW part numbers for the replacement - http://74.6.238.254/search/srpcache...6&icp=1&.intl=us&sig=hJDXFQc3jo_FqOFKcgJ8uA--
Yeah that's it. The dealer performed part of this under warranty but chaged me for the hoses. If the hoses are all plugged up, I do not understand why these would not be covered. i could understand that they want to be safe and replace the hoses as a precaution due to age, and I would agree that this is a reasonable request but that is likely not the case due to what I have read about this. They also indicated that the valve was $1600 but this is not what Bav Auto sells these for. In fact the entire kit is only $169.
