OK, so here is my deal. Maybe someone here can help me out, because I have not been able to find an answer elsewhere. The car: 1991 525i s52 swap converted to obd1 running 413 red label ecu w/vanos wiring harness turner motorsports chip Everything is swapped in, and connected. The car cranks perfectly fine and strong, but will not start. -There is no spark (tested) -The injectors are not firing (plugs are dry) -There is fuel getting to the fuel rail, and the pump is working fine. -All ground are proper from what I can tell My first theory was crank pos sensor, since this sensor is the one that tells the dme to spark and dump fuel (correct?) Tested resistance, came back at 517 ohms. Bentley says 1280, but others have told me Bentley is wrong, and 517 is fine. Also, I have been told that if the check engine light does not come on when you turn the key to the "on" position, then there is a problem with the dme? Is this correct? I have no CEL when the key is turned on. Also, checked the air gap for the crank sensor. Came up with .02, bentley says spec is .04 +-.01 ....so if .03 is the closest it can be, and mine is at .02, could that be a problem?
Fresh swap. Engine ran in m3 before I pulled ECU is from my touring, that was working fine. Unless I somehow fried it when I took it apart to put the turner chip in (static shock?) But I know the ECU was good before hand, it came from a running car.
