We had our cupholder console replaced on our 2008 135i convertible due to some blistering (under warranty) and the new console has a socket (with a folding cover) on the passenger side for some type of device to be inserted into it. The dealer didn't know what this was and searching newer model manuals yielded no results. Does anyone know what this is? It is a silver cover flap which folds down when I plut my finger through it. It is too small to insert a phone or iPod, could it be for the cupholder accessory which hangs on the passenger side of the console? Charlie
There is an accessory cup holder for the 1 series with iDrive. I looked for a picture to send you but could not find one.
Turns out the console the dealer installed is for a car with iDrive, which ours does not have. Can you buy the cup holder separately? Might come in handy to have another cupholder
