I just purchased a 2004 325i with 66K. I'm trying to use the cigarette lighter to plug in my cell phone and gps. The lighter doesn't work (don't need it) but there is no juice in the hole. I put a new fuse in even though the old on was good. I tested the fuse slots to see if any juice was coming to the fuse and got nothing on the multi meter. Any ideas where to go next to make it hot? fred398
Check the wiring to the cigarette lighter. Cigarette lighter usually goes to a ground and to the Accessory or Run position on the ignition (not Start - Run is usually the position behind Start, where the key rests after the engine is started). So far, it sounds like either a wiring problem, or the lighter socket itself has gone bad.
