I.m gearing the car up for my first driving school and I,m looking at the cgLock to clip on the stock belts to help hold me in the seat. The question is will I need to get one for the instructor who will be riding with me. Rule state that they should have the same safety gear I am using. Is this safety or convenience. Also any other suggestions for my first time out, I have taken care of braking. Thanks for your help.
do your seatbelts 'lock up' when you give a quick jerk to the shoulder end? the ones in my '85 do, i just move the seat all the way back, clip the belt on, drag the belt up to tighten it 'crost my lap, then jerk it down to lock it. Then, I move the seat up while leaning forward against the belt. If you're gonna get the cgLock thing, get one for both sides - for both safety & courtesy. 1st-time advice: drive the track, don't follow the car in front of you. You'll be learning how to 'pre-set' your car's suspension for your next turn, and how to position your wheels at the edges of the track surface. Neither of these have anything at all to do w/ what the car in front of you is doing - if you are looking at the car in front of you, rather than at the track in front of him, you'll mis-position your car and react to his turn-in at a curve, which will likely be too 'early' for your car - a bad place to be. So leave plenty space in front of you, & concentrate on precision-placement at the entrance & apex of each turn. Once you've learned the track, and how wide your car is, your speed will increase naturally. Don't forget to have bags of fun!
Thanks for the advice on the driving. I'll lock the seat belt and see if I can get them to lock where I want them, otherwise I guress I'll get two of the cglocks. thanks again.
hi schrantz, takes a bit of practice to get that belt-lock thing down, but now i automatically do it each time i get in the car. your post brought back a lot of great memories for me, such as how clueless i was at start, how much i learned at my 1st bmwcca school in both driving & classroom sessions, how much fun i had, & how many new friends i met. but, heh, after my 2nd school i did a bit of cipherin', and discovered that a track weekend rung up about 75 cents per lap per tire in rubber cost!
