The climate control seems to have a mind of its own. It will turn off and on at will. I believe it is activating the air conditioning compressor also, even when climate temperature is set to 80 degrees. Mark

Climate Control This is a very common problem on E36 1996-1998. It will require that you replace and then have re-coded the control panel computer. There are reports and sites on the internet of do-it yourself fixes as in resoldering/repaiing the circuit boards for these and I have had hit and miss luck with that being a true fix. Unless you have quite a bit of experience, great eyes, and the tools to re-solder very small circuit boards, just bite the bullet, shop around (hint), and buy a new one. You'll be time and money ahead and your car will be back to normal very soon. Enjoy!
Dont buy a new one. Dont replace it at all until you have at least tried repairing it. http://www.macadamizer.com/bmwfix.html http://forums.pelicanparts.com/showthread.php?t=346674&highlight=climate solder
