I had my 2013 BMW535i "break-in" oil changed today @ 2500 miles. Mechanic stated oil was dirty and filter had wrinkled pleats. Glad it was done although BMW does not require an oil change for 1 year or 15K miles.
Had my 2014 535iX oil changed at 2K miles and sent it out for analysis. It came back pristine, also without any indication of worn metal or silicon sealers. Either I lucked out, or BMW has figured out how to build great motors from the get-go!
The engines are broken in before they go into the vehicle at the engine plant so that helps quite a bit. The only vehicles that require a 2500 service is the M vehicles but they are completely different. It also never hurts to do more oil changes.
