I saw this today: http://http://baltimore.bizjournals.com/baltimore/stories/2009/12/14/daily11.html?surround=lfn It says that BMW will start to bring cars in through the Port of Baltimore, and it suggests that Baltimore is taking over the business formerly handled by Charleston, SC. So I wonder if that changes/eliminates PCD, since Baltimore is a good ways from Spartanburg. . . I also wonder if that changes where the Spartanburg-built cars that are exported will leave from. PS - I thought this was BMW NEWS, and I tried to post it in that forum, but it appears I am not sufficiently blessed to do that - oh, well. Have Fun, Rick
I hope the local chapter gets an invite to tour the facility once it is completed. Dodge/Chrysler/whatever and Mercedes-Benz have facilities there.
The article says they will share the facility with Mercedes - They may be a little miffed if a tribe of BMW enthusiasts descend on 'their' facility - On second thought, that's even more of a reason to do it! Have Fun, Rick
Good for Baltimore. Hopefully, PA, DE or MD can take advantage of the opportunity and provide BMW some alternatives to SC.
